HIGH school students from Tuart Hill help feed some of Perth’s most vulnerable each week at a Northbridge service providing support for people experiencing homelessness.

During the school term, Servite College students volunteer each Tuesday at Vinnies Tom Fisher House and prepare 20 litres of soup to feed people.

Homelessness service manager Chrissie Smith said the crisis accommodation service supported long term rough sleepers unable to access other services due to complex needs.

"It provides free accommodation and a place of engagement in which life impacting issues can be identified, treated and supported in collaboration with other agencies," she said.

"Our low threshold and change approach removes as many barriers as possible to accessibility for the most vulnerable people in the community."

With Homelessness Week from August 6-12, Ms Smith said Vinnies Passages Youth Engagement Hubs in Perth and Peel also provided marginalised and at-risk young people between 12 to 25 years old with a safe and positive place to access support services.

"By ensuring basic needs are met, it allows us to build relationships with young people to assist them to further address their complex issues," she said.

"We provide individualised and therapeutic support to manage their crisis, develop life skills and access other support services to prevent further crisis and help provide a pathway out of homelessness."
